Gallerie wa2 preview continued: window plates

I have the wood work done by Ifuji Masashi. All of the sheet glass is of course made in my studio
Plates and Oju Bako which is the traditional stacking plate box for the arrangement of New Years celebration dinner. I think the addition of a transparent material for the box opens a wide range of possibilites in terms of artistic arrangement of the the beautifully prepared New Years meal.

Just a taste of what I will have at Gallerie Wa2.
For this exhibition I gave myself an assignment: 50 different goblets. I would start off with a shape in mind- but paid careful attention to the shapes that would occur in the moment of the blowing process. This approach though quite challenging resulted in the development techniques and forms new to me (such as the stem of the glass in the above picture) and produced a set of 50 one of a kind glasses.
In addition to these works will be many of my previous designs as well as some recent designs with wood work made by Ifuji Masashi which I am very excited about.
The exhibition will be held from 4/29- 5/4 and I will be in the gallery on the 29th and 30th. I hope to meet you there!
「すべて形が違うゴブレットを５０個作る」これは今回の展示のため、
自分に与えた課題です。
この形を作ろう。と、始めはある程度デザインを決めて作業をしたけれ
ど、作業途中でガラスが見せる美しい表情や微妙なラインが気になり、
その自然な形をもとにゴブレットを仕上げることにしました。
この作業は私にとってとても難しく、楽しい、新たな発見の多い冒険と
なりました。
